Atlanta is such an upbeat city with many noteworthy places to eat! There are so many unique restaurants in the Atlanta area, many people do not even bother to show up to chain restaurants anymore. If you love to eat and try new restaurants out, you will love this review! It is always good to hear about a positive experience at a restaurant to promote GOOD EATING!
This past weekend, I went to Mary Mac’s Tea Room for the first time ever with one of my close friends. Located at 224 Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta, the restaurant was equipped with a southern, country-style atmosphere and excellent service! The area that the restaurant is located in is beautiful and urban-like. Right across from another excellent restaurant, Nancy’s Pizza, Mary Mac’s proved to me that it is one of the best restaurants for southern meals! As it is such a popular restaurant, the small, parking lot was the only negative. People were rushing to squeeze into small spots. Good thing I got there early!
Walking from your parked car to the front entrance, you will view beautiful scenery, including exquisite and colorful flowers. As my friend and I walked in the doors, we were greeted with hellos from many staff members. We did not have to wait long to be seated, and I was able to pass a decorative wall with many celebrity pictures and autographs as well. Once seated, I ordered a delicious lemonade and studied my meal options. As I searched the menu for something scrumptious, I couldn’t choose from the huge selection! There were many items to choose from, and the prices were lower than expected. There is even a gluten-free section! Eventually, I chose the meal that included the six, fried chicken wings and I added macaroni and cabbage as my sides.
As I looked out of the windows of the gorgeous, French doors, I realized that this restaurant was very historical and special. I know that Mary Mac’s has been around for a long time, since 1945 to be exact, but it took me a while to get here! I am so happy that I made my way to the restaurant, because it was totally worth the 40-minutes drive from my suburban residence! The clean tables, covered with white, table cloth, made me feel as If I were getting ready for a grand supper at grandma’s.
The waiter that was assigned to my table was so pleasant that I think I may have over-tipped him! Ha! There was a very lovely and sincere feel to the service that was given, and I was extremely shocked at the friendliness of the staff. It is so hard to find excellent customer service these days. The food did not take long to come out, and when it did, I could not believe my eyes! There was so much food, and for such a small price! I was so excited; I had already began making plans of when I would be free the following week to come again! The waiter checked on my friend and I to make sure that we were doing okay, and when we had already paid for our meals, he did not rush us.
As we got up to leave, we were greeted again by friendly faces and sincere goodbyes. When I walked out of the doors to my car, I knew that I would be back to Mary Mac’s very soon! This restaurant definitely gets a 10/10 from me! If you haven’t tried it already, what are you waiting on?!
